Drew has worked in every corner of the insurance industry since entering it 1986. He started as a property underwriter, an automobile underwriter and a commercial marketing representative. Since the early 1990s, he’s been immersed in the brokerage side of the business, thoroughly reviewing clients’ exposures and designing their programs. His hands-on experience in oil and gas operations—he worked eight years on pipelines and rigs—means he not only understands oil patch processes but can clearly explain them to an underwriter. Drew also specializes in Canadian and American trucking operations, all construction classes, logging, and any risks associated with specialty pollution coverage. He has amassed almost two decades of effective claims handling service, including business interruption losses. Drew holds an AIIC designation (Associate of the Insurance Institute of Canada).  
 
Rita Curtiss

Rita’s 38-year career in the Edmonton taxi industry included 22 years managing a 500-car, 850-driver company. Prior to that, she was the firm’s accountant, office manager and assistant general manager. Rita has been with CMB since 2008, working with clients in the taxi industry. CMB clients draw on her expertise with the industry to place their insurance, monitor their claims and work with them on solutions that will reduce risks.

With four decades’ experience in the insurance industry, Pete has an outstanding grasp of all aspects of the business. His clients also reap the benefits of sturdy relationships he’s built and maintained with insurance company personnel for 25 to 30 years. Before joining CMB Brokers in 1992, Pete worked with several large firms, including Wawanesa and Reed Stenhouse, as an underwriter, marketer, manager, and in account service. He specializes in commercial accounts, particularly large fleets (Cargo/Auto/Comprehensive General Liability), oilfield service businesses, property, road building, site prep and contractors.

Since 1978, Sue has put her facility for detail, technical information and analysis to work for her clients as an account manager and broker. In turn, her clients appreciate her knowledge and diligence, and her desire to streamline processes. Sue spent nine years working with an array of small commercial businesses at Aon Reed Stenhouse, before moving to CMB in 2009. She specializes in owner-operator trucking firms, and the oil and gas industry.

As the owner of a promotional and marketing company for 15 years, Daryl knows first-hand the kinds of responsibilities and concerns, needs and expectations his clients have when they insure their own enterprises. A member of the insurance industry since 2003, he’s been with CMB since 2006, specializing in commercial insurance and contract bonding. Daryl holds both the Chartered Insurance Professional designation and Commercial Risk Management designation.
 
Shirley Munch

Shirley has been with CMB since 1994, but her career in the insurance industry began in 1975. She has built her distinguished reputation through a dedication to always making her clients her primary focus. As an account executive, she reviews and recommends coverage, obtains competitive pricing, handles claims, troubleshoots and monitors progress. She’s also CMB’s underwriter for an in-house program for trucking risks. Additionally, her vast previous experience in all aspects of the industry—she’s been a customer service rep, marketing rep, account manager and broker—give her a comprehensive understanding of what else her clients might need. Her knack for supplying strong customer support was proven in 1987, when she was part of an emergency claims office dealing with the aftermath of the Edmonton tornado. Throughout her career she’s been in demand as a trainer and mentor.
 
Monica Sham

Throughout high school and university, Monica worked part time in insurance companies as a customer service rep servicing personal lines policies. Upon graduating with a bachelor of commerce in 2003, she entered the field full time, joining CMB as an account manager in commercial lines. Since 2006, she’s been an account executive—the key contact on clients’ accounts. She specializes in all classes of transportation, oil and gas contractors, and oil and gas manufacturing.
 
Benjamin McDonald

Ben moved from the oil and gas industry into the insurance industry in 2009. He is still working part-time in the insurance industry while working towards bachelor of management degree at the University of Lethbridge. Ben works on a variety of projects designed to help streamline day to day operations so that account managers and account executives can focus more attention towards their clients and their needs. Ben brings with him the newest management and marketing tactics and intends to share his knowledge through his work at CMB. Although he has no contact with clients directly his work behind the scenes is greatly appreciated.
 
Cliff Hlady
Cliff Hlady
Claims Administrator
Cliff spent 18 years handling claims for a taxi company with a fleet of 500 cars and 900 drivers. Between 1986 and 1991, he spent five years as a safety supervisor. He has designations in Level 1 and 2 Collision Investigation and is a Defensive Driving Course instructor. Cliff has developed a database to track drivers, vehicles, collision and claims data. He also specializes in safety and risk management, driver hiring and training, proactive intervention policies and claims liaising.
